Range of services in Western Switzerland

Regular public transport services

Thanks to a network of 96 routes covering 1,500 kilometres, the PostBus region of Western Switzerland takes you to work, school, the doctor’s and to visit friends every day.

PubliCar

New forms of transport such as the dial-a-ride system PubliCar (see the “PubliCar” section) complete or replace the traditional services from PostBus. After its successful introduction in the region of Oron-la-Ville (VD) in 1995, the dial-a-ride system has been extended to other regions of Western Switzerland. Today there are 16 PubliCar regions in operation, 11 of which are in the Vaud area.

School buses

In the area of school buses, PostBus is the most important company in the canton. Ninety specially-equipped school buses take children to school every day. All of these vehicles are equipped with individual seats facing the direction of travel and have three-point seatbelts. Some of the 170 regular service buses are also used for school transport. In addition, many schoolchildren travel to school on regular public transport services. We also run a campaign in schools for the prevention of anti-social behaviour on public transport.

Leisure time

Whether you are planning a short excursion or a longer trip over several days, we would be pleased to receive your requests and organize an extra trip for you. We can even offer you a nostalgic ride on a vintage Postbus from 1969.

We can transport your staff to their place of work – following a regular timetable or adapting the service to your special requirements.

Rail replacement services

Thanks to our many years of experience, we can provide inexpensive rail replacement routes. If there are disruptions or breakdowns on the rail network, we help the rail companies by ensuring transport is available for their passengers.
